Còncori
Garfagnana is a remote land between the Apuan Alps and the Apennine mountains. Home to one of Tuscany’s highest vineyard sites, the region’s viticulture was neglected after the Second World War. In 1999 Gabriele da Prato embarked on a solitary mission to restore winemaking in Garfagnana, embracing biodynamic farming. We love working with Gabriele, as he embodies our ideal wine-grower, someone that works in sync with Mother Nature to craft wines that are clear reflections of the place and grapes they are made from. Gabriele is a true artisan, working with the least amount of intervention and yet paying attention to the finest details. His wines are perfectly clean and balanced, and yet brim with energy and vitality. In this land of untouched forests and wild Porcini mushrooms, the influence of the Serchio River, the shale soils and Tuscany’s most dramatic diurnal shift provide for wines that are bright, vibrant and juicy.
Concori is a bit of an exception in our focus on Italian Grape Varieties, but it’s important to note that Syrah and other French varieties have been grown in this part of Tuscany since the late 1700, when Elisa Bonaparte (Napoleon’s Sister) was ruling this area. On top of that, we truly love working with wine-growers like Gabriele.
