I Garagisti di Sorgono
Situated in the heart of Sardinia's Mandrolisai appellation, three friends have united to preserve their ancestral winemaking traditions.
Cultivating ancient alberello vines of Cannonau, Monica, and Bovale on nutrient-poor, white and pink granite soils, they breathe life into the rugged landscape. Sardegna, one of Italy's oldest geological formations, harbors a rich history amidst its wild terrain, where shepherds, woodsmen, and farmers have long thrived.
In the village of Sorgono, nestled between Barbagia and Campidano, Pierto Uras, Simone Murru, and Renzo Manca steward 40-100-year-old vines, rooted in ancient soils tilled by hand generations ago. Committed to organic practices, they meticulously farm their 9-hectare vineyards, perched between 480-700 meters elevation, with minimal intervention.
Hand-harvested in October and pressed using antique wooden presses, their wines reflect tradition and terroir. With only 24,000 bottles crafted annually, I Garagisti epitomizes artisanal winemaking, honoring the spirit of Sardinia's past while embracing the future.
