Vumbaca
Vigneti Vumbaca's journey began in 1984 when Christian Vumbaca's mother and uncle purchased six hectares of land in Cirò, Calabria, planting two hectares with vines.
This purchase sparked Christian's childhood fascination with viticulture, leading him to abandon his law career in Rome years later to pursue winemaking. Today, he organically tends six hectares of sandy- and clayey-calcareous soil, cultivating Gaglioppo and Greco Bianco grapes. Cirò, at the forefront of Calabria's wine renaissance, is Christian's canvas for crafting expressive wines.
Avoiding oak aging and embracing organic farming, Christian's minimalist approach reflects in his wines' purity and sincerity. With only small-scale production, his wines mirror his jovial and direct personality. Calabria's Mediterranean essence shines through his wines, balancing fruit, spice, and coastal nuances.
Gaglioppo, an ancient and challenging grape, embodies Southern Italy's essence with its delicate color and robust tannins, pairing beautifully with rustic fare. Vumbaca encapsulates Christian's passion and dedication to Calabrian viticulture, crafting wines with unmistakable character and charm.

Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore DOC
100% organically grown Gaglioppo, Calabria’s most important red grape variety, from 50+ years old vines, trained in the traditional “alberello” system. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in stainless steel tanks. Maceration is kept short, to just 6 days.
As usual with Gaglioppo, this is deceivingly light in color, but full of character, with plenty of berry fruit aromas and a vibrant acidity.

Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore Riserva DOC
A selection of the estate’s best organically grown Gaglioppo grapes, from 50+ years old vines, trained in the traditional “alberello” system. Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks, and aged in stainless steel tanks for over 2 years.
Winemaking is minimal, for a wine that is full of character and brims with aromas of small berry fruit, pomegranate and black pepper.
